Potential For Annual Fee For Cons
If you are not qualified for a platinum card which is usually because of faulty credit history, a Gold version of the card would offer which attracts an annual fee of $59 to get and use one.
Retail cards rarely charge an annual fee, so we would consider this a deal-breaker. You are better off if you are offering a store-only card with an annual fee exemption.
This means you could not use it outside of the store, but you are still eligible for your 5% back in points reward certificate on all store purchases.

What Is A Bad Credit Score
Your credit score is a number used by lenders to determine your trustworthiness as a borrower. Itâs a number between 300 â 900, and the higher the score, the better. Many factors go into determining your credit score, such as the age of your oldest credit account, your payment history, the types and size of credit you have, and whether your credit products are often close to their limits.
Most credit card providers require a credit score of at least 600 to qualify for an unsecured credit card, but if your credit score is below that threshold, donât worry, you can improve it.

How To Decide: What Is The Best Credit Card For Me
To decide which credit is the best for you, you need to look at your priorities. If you normally carry a balance or you want to reduce your debt, then a low-interest or balance transfer card should be the only types you consider.
People who always pay off their full balance every month need to decide whether a travel or cash-back card makes more sense for them. Travel cards can offer lucrative rewards, but if you dont like to travel, theres no point in you getting a travel credit card. If this sounds like you, then a cash-back card may be the way to go.
Now that youve got your category of card selected, take a look at the earn rate, additional, benefits and which type of points you earn for each card. If you happen to spend a lot on gas and groceries, then look for a card that has a high earn rate for those categories.
The annual fee should also be a consideration in your decision making, but if you think youre getting good value out of your additional benefits and youre making more back than you paid with the fee, then it shouldnt be a big deal.
What’s The Easiest Card To Get Approved For
Approval for a credit card is never guaranteed. Even if you have an excellent credit score, an issuer could still decline your application because you don’t have enough income, or because you’ve opened several other cards recently, or for some other reason. Plus, “easy” is a relative term. Someone with excellent credit and a good income will usually qualify for most cards. Someone with a middling credit score might struggle to get approved even with ample income.
With that in mind:
-
In general, the lower the risk to the credit card issuer, the easier it is to get approved. That’s why secured credit cards are a recommended starting point for people working to build or mend credit: The security deposit requirement reduces the risk. See our best secured credit cards of 2021.
-
If you’ve begun to build credit and have a score in the mid-600s, look at credit cards for fair credit. These provide more benefits but don’t require a top-tier credit score. See our best credit cards for fair credit of 2021.
-
Store credit cards are also generally easier to qualify for than bank cards. They tend to have low credit limits and high interest rates, but they’re a viable credit-building tool provided you keep your balances low relative to the limit and pay them off each month. See our best store credit cards of 2021.

Regrets About This Card
I really thought I would benefit from having a best Buy card until I realized that Capitol One was the issuing bank for the card. Capitol One credit cards are not the best cards to have because the interest rates alone are extremely high and if you make a purchase and don’t pay it off when you get the bill you will be paying for the item forever. I purchased a computer on this card, not realizing until I got the bill who the issuing bank was, and it seems like it took forever to pay the entire balance off and I was paying more that the minimum due. Another thing this bank does is when you pay off the balance, then you are sent a statement for a smaller payment which is compounded interest.Customer ServiceI can never understand anyone that is on the phone whenever I have to call them for something. Another thing is, it seems to make them angry when you want to cancel the card.Available RatesTheir rates are really terrible

Best Buy Visa Vs Best Buy Store Card
When you apply for a Best Buy credit card, you are first going to be considered for the My Best Buy Visa Platinum, which is accepted at Best Buy and anywhere else Visa is accepted and has no annual fee. If youre approved, youre good to go.
However, if your credit history isnt good enough, you might be offered a different Best Buy store credit card that is only accepted at Best Buy and also has no annual fee.
Finally, if your credit isnt good enough to qualify for either of those, you could be offered the Best Buy Visa Gold, which has a $59 annual fee. In our view, it would be very hard to justify paying a $59 annual fee for that card unless you have bad credit and find that this is the only unsecured Visa that you can be accepted for.
Best Low Interest Credit Card

If you carry a balance on your credit card from month to month, you shouldnât be chasing rewards â you also shouldnât be paying a high interest rate. The True Line Gold Mastercard from MBNA currently offers the lowest fixed interest rate for purchases in Canada at 8.99%, which is half the interest rate of the typical rewards credit card. This card does have a $39 annual fee.
Why we like it:
This card stands out for the fact it offers the lowest fixed interest rate on purchases and balance transfers in the country. So, whether you anticipate youâll carry a balance or are looking to consolidate and pay off high-interest debt from other cards, the True Line Gold Mastercard can help you save a considerable amount of money on interest long term.
Additional perks:
Fraud protection and access to 24/7 customer service.

How To Use My Best Buy Visa Credit Card Card
When you submit your application, pay attention to which version of the card youre approved for. If you only qualify for the My Best Buy Credit Card or the My Best Buy Visa Gold card , consider the limitations of each before opening your account.
If you decide to open any version of the My Best Buy Visa Credit Card, have a spending plan in mind. Youll want to prepare for any purchases that qualify for special financing before you buy, so you can avoid taking on deferred interest . It may also be worth waiting until you have the money to buy it outright, and earn rewards on your purchase instead. Either option can be a good one if youre shopping for something expensive at Best Buy, such as a home entertainment center or new kitchen appliances.
As for the cards other rewards categories, you can earn on gas, groceries, and dining if you prefer to redeem your rewards at Best Buy. But if you have other cash back or rewards cards already in your wallet that earn in these categories like the Chase Freedom Unlimited® or Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express you may get more value from their more flexible redemptions.

The My Best Buy Visa card is for frequent Best Buy shoppers, with good to excellent credit, who would like to earn rewards toward more Best Buy merchandise. The 5% back in rewards for shopping at Best Buy is a decent earning rate if you frequently spend significant amounts of money there. These rewards are not likely worth the expense if you only qualify for the Best Buy Visa Gold card, though, as it comes with a $59 annual fee. In this case, youd have to spend at least $1,200 on qualifying Best Buy purchases to earn $60 in reward certificates to justify the annual fee.
The other rewards categories, including limited-time non-Best Buy categories, can typically be beaten by other rewards credit cards without an annual fee. If you want to earn rewards you can use at places other than Best Buy, consider a general cash-back credit card instead.
Up To 2% Back Elsewhere With The Best Buy Visa
If you get approved for the Best Buy Visa Credit Card, meaning you have at least good credit, you will be able to earn Best Buy rewards while buying items from other merchants. Youll get a 1% base rate that jumps to 2% for purchases made at restaurants, bars, grocery stores and at 3% for purchases made at gas stations.

My Best Buy Visa. This is an “open-loop” credit card, accepted anywhere that takes Visa. This card comes in two versions, with the only significant difference being the annual fee. When you submit your application, Best Buy will tell you which one you’ve been approved for:
