How To Apply For The Jetblue Plus Card
How long will it take to get my JetBlue Plus Card?
Barclays can make an immediate decision on your application. But if they require additional information, it could take a few business days up to a few weeks.
Upon approval, expect your card to arrive in up to 10 business days.
What To Consider When Applying For Airline Credit Cards
While the JetBlue Plus Card is the better JetBlue credit card, that doesnt mean its the best airline credit card for you. If youre thinking about getting an airline credit card, focus on which airline you fly the most. The card can make it easier to rack up points or miles with that airline, giving you more chances to earn free flights.
Another factor to consider is flight access. For example, JetBlue has a large footprint in the eastern U.S. and the Caribbean but is not as prevalent in the midwestern and western U.S.
Finally, consider whether the airline has any partnerships with other airlines. United Airlines, for instance, is a member of the Star Alliance, which also includes several international airlines like Air Canada, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines. If you have United miles, you could book flights on any of these partner airlines through Uniteds website.
Jetblue Plus Card*vs Chase Freedom Flex
If youre looking for an all-purpose card that earns elevated rewards across a broad swath of categories, the Chase Freedom Flex could be the needle in the haystack youve been searching for. For an annual fee of $0, cardholders earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in categories that rotate quarterly , 5% on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®, 3% on dining and drugstores and 1% on all other purchases.
Rewards come as Chase Ultimate Rewards, a highly flexible currency that can be redeemed for cash back, travel, gift cards, merchandise or combined with rewards earned from a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® card and transferred to one of Chases travel transfer partners. Right now, JetBlue is not a Chase travel partner so this wont be a good way to rack up TrueBlue points. However, you can use points to book through the Ultimate Rewards travel portal at a rate of one cent per point.

Jetblue Credit Card Benefits
JetBlues card is primarily designed to reward travelers who fly with the airline.
Rewards focus around accruing JetBlue TrueBlue points, which can be redeemed for free travel and other discounts through the JetBlue TrueBlue frequent flyer program.
Heres how the benefits break down:
- 3 points per dollar on JetBlue purchases
- 2 points for every dollar spent on groceries and restaurants
- 1 point per dollar
- No foreign transaction fees
As part of limited-time offers, the JetBlue Rewards credit card may come with sign-up bonuses.
In addition to using points for award flights, the card also gets you 50% off on some in-flight purchases like cocktails, food, and entertainment.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t waive any baggage fees.
% Refund On Jetblue Award Redemptions
When you redeem your JetBlue TrueBlue points for an award flight, youll receive 10% of your points back as a bonus. For example, if you redeemed 20,000 points, youd get 2,000 points deposited back into your account. The bonus will typically post to your account four to six weeks after you take your award flight. Theres no limit to how many points you can get back through this method.

How To Use The Jetblue Plus Card
Once you are approved for the JetBlue Plus Card, start maximizing your rewards by spending $1,000 within 90 days of account opening to earn the 40,000-point welcome bonus.
Over time, use your card for any JetBlue purchases to earn 6x TrueBlue points per dollar. If you dont have another card with higher rewards on dining and groceries, you can also earn 2x points in those categories without any caps or limits.
For your other everyday purchases, you may want to look into a companion rewards credit card you can use to earn rewards that are transferable to the JetBlue program. JetBlue TrueBlue is a transfer partner of the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, American Express Membership Rewards, the Citi ThankYou program and Capital One Travel, so there are plenty of complementary rewards card options to consider.
If youre serious about earning Mosaic elite status with JetBlue, you can also use this card to guarantee status for a price. Reaching this threshold requires $50,000 in spending each calendar year, or an average $4,167 per month. Mosaic status unlocks perks like free same-day flight changes, your first two checked bags free, free in-flight alcoholic beverages, early boarding, and extra points on flight purchases.
Whether youre working toward elite status or a welcome bonus, you should only use your JetBlue Plus Card for purchases you can afford to pay off each month. If you carry a balance, the high variable APR will easily wipe out all the rewards you earn.
Is The Card For You
This card is best for semi-loyal JetBlue travelers who dont want to tie themselves down with an annual fee. Its a reasonable way to rack up points for free travel, especially given the earnings rates on bonus categories. Anyone who flies JetBlue multiple times per year is likely to do better by upgrading to the premium JetBlue Plus card to take advantage of extra benefits that more than likely pay for themselves.

Covid And Mint Customers
Luckily for Mint passengers, the JetBlue first class experience has not changed much due to the pandemic. While most other airlines have limited or stopped their meal service, the Mint cabin still offers a complete rotational menu to all travelers. Their comfort experience hasnt changed either, with all Mint travelers still receiving a comforter, pillow and pre-packaged snooze kit. Even though the Mint experience is the same, their policies have gotten a lot safer with the pandemic.
For starters, JetBlue conducts daily temperature checks, requiring masks and providing paid sick leave for all employees to ensure those serving you are healthy. The airline also requires all passengers to wear masks while onboard and has upgraded their air filtration systems on all planes. Plus, passengers must also complete a health declaration form before boarding and use touchless checkpoints during the boarding process.
Jetblue Trueblue Cash + Points Bookings
JetBlue is one of the few airlines that helps you stretch your rewards farther by using a combination of cash and points. This option, aptly named Cash + Points, lets you book flights using as few as 500 TrueBlue points toward your flight, with cash copay on a sliding scale based on the proportion of points used.
The main benefit of using Cash + Points is obvious. If youre short on TrueBlue points for the flight you want, you now have the option to use up the points you have and pay for the remainder of your booking with cash. You can access cash savings sooner and no longer need to spend months saving for airline-imposed redemption thresholds. You also wont be stuck with an unusable balance of points, even as an infrequent flyer.
Cash + Points also lets you stretch your points further or use points to reduce the cost of airfare so it fits better in your budget. Most of all, Cash + Points bookings give you more flexibility. In the world of airline loyalty programs, flexibility is key.

Drawbacks Of Jetblue Plus Card
This card does come with an annual fee, so if you dont fly JetBlue enough to make that $99 fee worth it then you may want to pass. If you prefer flying JetBlue but wont get enough value from the added benefits to justify the cost, you may also consider the airlines no annual fee option, the JetBlue Card. It earns fewer rewards and has a smaller welcome bonus, but might make more sense for infrequent flyers.
There are also other rewards cards out there that offer higher rewards rates for groceries and dining, so it might be worth pairing this card with another rewards credit card for more value.
How It Compares To Similar Cards
The JetBlue Plus credit card is an ideal choice for bigger spenders, especially if youre already loyal to the airline. But if you dont want to pay an annual fee or you prefer more flexibility in redeeming rewards, there may be other better suited to your needs.
JetBlue Plus Card vs. JetBlue Card
The JetBlue card offers 10,000 bonus points to new cardholders who spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, which is far below the bonus you can earn for spending the same with the JetBlue Plus. Youll also get only triple points on JetBlue purchases. You do, however, get the same double points at restaurants and grocery stores, as well as the one point per dollar on all other purchases.
The biggest benefit of the JetBlue card compared to the JetBlue Plus is that the card has no annual fee. But with no annual fee comes fewer benefits, such as no anniversary bonus or $100 statement credit for Vacation package purchases. If you think youll take advantage of any of those perks or spend enough to cover the annual fee, youre better off with the JetBlue Plus.

Jetblue Card Vs Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card
The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase charges an annual fee and has a significantly lower rewards earning rate than the Barclays JetBlue Card. How does it compare?
- Annual fee: $99
- Welcome bonus: Earn 40,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.
- Rewards earned/$1 spent: $0.015
- Other benefits: 2 points per $1 spent on Southwest purchases and Rapid Rewards car rental and hotel purchases anniversary bonus of 6,000 points per year $0 foreign transaction fees.

Jetblue Plus Card Reviews And Complaints
Customers love the signup bonus and the value they get from the TrueBlue points. However, some say it took too long to get the bonus points applied to their account.

Jetblue Card* Vs Jetblue Plus Card*
If you can swing a $99 annual fee, the JetBlue Plus Card is worth a look. The card comes with a welcome bonus: 60,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases and paying the annual fee in full, both within the first 90 days. The Plus card offers 6 points per dollar on eligible JetBlue purchases, 2 points per dollar at restaurants and eligible grocery stores and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.
After the welcome bonus, the JetBlue Plus card offers strong ongoing benefits, including free checked bags for you and up to three companions on the same reservation. Cardholders who use this benefit can break-evenor betterwith the annual fee in no time. Each card anniversary, youll also receive a 5,000 point bonus in your TrueBlue account which again helps make up for that annual fee.
Big spenders should take note of yet another card benefit. The JetBlue Plus card provides Mosaic status benefits if you charge $50,000 in a calendar year. Mosaic Members will love getting a second free checked bag, complimentary onboard alcoholic beverages, expedited security, early boarding, discounts on extra legroom seats and no fees for changes or cancellations.
Is The Jetblue Credit Card Worth It
The JetBlue Plus Card and JetBlue Business Card could absolutely be worth applying for and holding onto long term. A few general thoughts:
- In general I wouldnt recommend putting much spending on these cards, unless youre going for Mosaic status , given that there are other cards with better rewards structures, especially for everyday spending
- If you fly JetBlue with any frequency, having one of these cards is almost certainly worth it the 5,000 anniversary bonus points offsets most of the annual fee, the 10% refund on award redemptions will earn you even more points, and then the savings on checked bags and inflight purchases will allow you to come out way ahead
I have a JetBlue credit card I dont fly the airline that often, but even so, I at least break even on the card, and some years come out significantly ahead.

Is The Jetblue Card Worth It
The Barclays JetBlue Card offers several attractive benefits, including a 0% balance transfer APR and $0 annual fee. The card may be worth it for regular JetBlue flyers who travel the airline once or twice a year, but not enough to justify paying an annual fee. While the card doesn’t offer free checked bags, you do get half off in-flight food and drink purchases, which is a nice perk.
If you fly JetBlue more than twice a year, you may want to consider the JetBlue Plus Card this card offers more perks, including free checked bags. The annual fee is canceled out by the extra rewards and benefits if you spend enough on JetBlue each year.
Still, many travelers may find more value in the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or another top general purpose travel credit card. As long as you’re going to pay an annual fee, you may be better served by the added flexibility, the ability to maximize rewards through a large number of transfer partners and the available travel insurance benefits.
