The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card Vs The Bank Of America Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card
If youre a big online shopper but you want as much rewards flexibility as you can get month-to-month, the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card is one of the most versatile cash back cards on the market. Granted, its online shopping category rewards rate is 3 percent rather than 5 percent, but you can swap out your 3 percent category each month for five other choices that include dining, gas, travel and other everyday expenses. Youll also benefit from fixed 2 percent cash back categories that cover grocery stores and wholesale clubs. More interestingly, Bank of Americas online shopping category is one of the most comprehensive available, covering major retailers like Amazon.com and Walmart.com on top of a myriad of retailers and specialty sites like Etsy.com.
The downside is that the Bank of America Customized Cash cards 3 percent and 2 percent bonus categories share a $2,500 quarterly spending limit, which will drop all your spending to 1 percent cash back if you exceed it. The Bank of America cards better $200 cash rewards bonus , 15-billing cycle 0 percent intro APR on purchases and balance transfers and 13.99 percent to 23.99 percent variable APR may offset this hurdle, but the Amazon Prime card offers unlimited rewards. Its worth noting that, aside from rewards, the Prime card also has meatier benefits.

Lendedus Experience With The Amazon Prime Rewards Card
Personal experience by Alex Coleman, VP of Product at LendEDU
As an Amazon junkie and Prime member, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card is my go-to credit card. I buy everything from books to toilet paper via Amazon, so Im able to earn 5% cash back on a lot of my regular purchases.
I also use the card for gas and groceries, which earns me 2% cash back. This is competitive with the other card I keep in my wallet, the Blue Cash Everyday® Card. In the first half of 2019, I spent $1,682 on Amazon and Whole Foods purchaseswhich has earned me $84.10 in cash back.
The chase mobile app that comes with the card is easy to use, and it provides me with access to Chase Offers, like 10% back at Dunkin. The app also provides me with a spendings snapshot by category, so I can understand where I may be overspending each month compared to previous months.

Understanding Your Points And Redemption Options
Weve touched on earning points with the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card now lets take a look at how you can use your points. The good news is that there are lots of options here, as well.
On Amazon.com, you can redeem your points to pay for part or all of your eligible purchase.
To use your points at Amazon.com, select the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card as your payment method when checking out. You can then choose the dollar amount you want to cover using your points. Using your points this way gets you a redemption value of $1 per 100 points.
You can also redeem your points for cash back, gift cards or travel. The redemption value may vary for other types of redemptions, but 100 points also equals $1 for Amazon.com, travel, gift cards and cash back.
Amazon Rewards Visa Card Credit Score

You have a solid chance of a successful application for the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card if your credit score is in the fair-to-good range, and the suggested FICO® Score to apply is 670 or above. It’s possible to get approved with a lower score, but it makes more sense to work on your credit first and give yourself a better shot. Note that because Chase is the card issuer on the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, Chase’s 5/24 rule could lead to a declined application for consumers who have opened too many credit cards in the past two years.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card* Vs Quarterly Bonus Cards
Alternatively, you could consider one of a set of cards that offer quarterly bonuses on Amazon. For instance, the Discover it® Cash Back offered 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases in the 4th quarter of 2020 at Amazon.com . Bonus categories rotate and must be activated quarterly, so that is something to be aware of if you get this card. The Chase Freedom Flex also regularly offers Amazon as a quarterly bonus category.
Depending on how much you spend on Amazon purchases, Whole Foods and on other purchase categories, one credit card is likely to be a better option over another. Its always a good idea to estimate your spending patterns and calculate how much cash back you would earn with a credit card you are considering, remembering to take into account the cards annual fee.
So Is It Worth It To Apply For The Amazon Prime Rewards Card
For existing Prime members who are big Amazon spenders, it’s probably a good betespecially because there’s no annual fee to own the card. You could even use this card to earn cash rewards that totally cover your $119 Amazon Prime membership if you spend at least $2,380 a year at Amazon.com. But if you don’t spend that much at Amazon.com every year, you could probably make up that membership fee with rewards earned through spending at Whole Foods and elsewhere.
If your spending lines up with the Amazon Prime Rewards Card’s rewards categories, signing up for Prime and applying for the card is worth considering, because the cash back could cover your Prime membership.
But if shelling out $119 a year for a Prime membership isn’t something you’d do anyway, the card is less attractive and you may want to consider other rewards cards. That’s because there are others out there that can earn you 3% or more on all grocery purchases , as well as other cards that offer higher returns on dining out and gas. The key, as usual, lies in examining where you spend your money in order to maximize your cash back rewards and using the right card on the right purchases.
Here’s when it makes little sense to apply for the card: If you plan on carrying any sort of credit card balance. The on the Amazon Rewards Visa card is between 14.24% and 22.24%, depending on an applicant’s credit worthiness. That rate could wipe out any rewards you might earnand saddle you with additional debt.

What’s To Like About The Amazon Secured Card
This card offers a way to rebuild your credit with no annual fee and few other fees. And although it’s a store card that’s not part of a larger payment network, Amazon is one of the largest stores in the world, with a selection of over 100 million items.
Better yet, Prime members are able to receive 5% back by using an Amazon Prime Store Card, including this secured card version. Prime members can choose a promotional financing option instead of receiving 5% back on their purchases.
Most important, you can qualify for this card with bad credit, and balance and payment information will be reported to the major consumer credit bureaus to help get your credit score back on track. This option helps customers rebuild their credit when they aren’t able to qualify for a standard, unsecured credit card.
What About The Rates
When youre traveling outside the US, youll naturally want the best deal you can get when you use your credit card. Hold up, though you may not always get what you hope. Thats for a couple of reasons. One is that the company that handles your transactions, which could be your card provider or the ATM operator, may charge a fee. At least thats upfront, though. The one that isnt so clear is the markup youre likely to get on your exchange rate. You often wont even realize that until you take a look at your statement.
Look on sites like Yahoo, Google, or XE for exchange rates and youll see one simple number. Sounds good, doesnt it? It would be if that were the rate you actually got. In nearly all cases, its not. The one the websites will show you is the mid-market rate. Thats just what it sounds like: the midpoint between the buy and sell rates. When banks trade themselves, this is the number they use. The chance that theyll offer it to you too is well, its pretty slim. Youre likely to get a worse rate and though thats not called a fee, it doesnt make much difference to your bill.

% Discount On Diaper Subscriptions
Amazon Prime offers some great benefits for members, and one of the more popular ones is its 20% discount on diapers. To get the discount, you must start a diaper subscription through Amazons service. Amazon will then deliver the diapers to you on a regular basis , and you can cancel at any time.

Drawbacks: A quick comparison of Amazons diaper prices verifies that the 20% discount can get you some of the lowest prices on diapers without requiring a lot of footwork. However, the discount isnt as great as it seems. Amazon Subscribe and Save is open to any Amazon member, and regular Amazon members are already entitled to a 15% discount as long as they subscribe to at least five items. So, the Prime discount is really more like a 5% discount. Also, you should be aware that Amazon prices fluctuate wildly, so youll need to keep a close eye on your subscription.
