Ties To Your Home Country And Residence Abroad
Under U.S. law, people who apply for nonimmigrant visas, such as F-1 or J-1 student visas, are viewed as “intending immigrants” until they can convince the consular officer that they are not. You must, therefore, be able to show that you have reasons for returning to your “residence abroad” that are stronger than reasons for remaining in the United States and that you intend to depart the United States at the conclusion of your studies.
“Ties” to your home country are the things that connect you to your hometown, homeland, or current place of residence: job, family, owning a house or apartment, financial prospects that you own or will inherit, investments, etc. If you are a prospective student, the interviewing officer may ask about your specific plans or promise of future employment, family or other relationships, educational objectives, grades, long-range plans and career prospects in your home country. Each person’s situation is different, of course, and there is no magic explanation or single document, certificate, or letter which can guarantee visa issuance. If you have applied for the U.S. Diversity Lottery, you may be asked if you intend to immigrate. If you applied for the Diversity Visa Lottery but do not intend to immigrate, be prepared to clarify that, for instance, by explaining that you applied for the lottery since it was available but not with a specific intent to immigrate.

Travelers With Green Card Or Us Visa Eligible For Visa
Travelers with a US visa or green card are eligible for a visa on arrival in the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For eligibility both passport and visa should have a validity of minimum of six months from the arrival date.
Passengers transiting through Dubai or any other UAE airport and desiring to enjoy a layover can apply for a visit visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days, extendable for an additional 14 days. This is beneficial for those US visa and green card holders traveling to India and may have relatives in the UAE. Or, simply would like to stop by as a tourist wanting to explore this shopping destination. It is advisable to explore this option on the way to India given that most connecting flights are normally in the wee hours allowing passengers a reasonable amount of time to step out of the airports. With an intent to facilitate ease of passenger traffic and making it simple, most airlines are onboard with this policy including Emirates Airline, a popular choice of airlines between the United States and India.
The fees for the UAE visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14-days costs approximately $27.23 per traveler and the renewal fee, if deciding to extend by an additional 14 days is $68.00. This is not only a very convenient option but also a cost-effective one. While a regular Dubai visa may cost roughly $100 per trip with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit, a US green card holder saves nearly 65% by seeking a visa on arrival.
