How To Get Credit Card From Chase

Maximize Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Credit Cards

How to Get Approved for Your First Chase Card

Given the spending habits outlined above, how much value do I get from my four cards ? If you add up my earnings, Im taking home roughly 168,000 Ultimate Rewards points every year. This haul is worth $3,360, and with yearly spending of $52,800, that equates to an incredible return of 6.36%.

Even when you take out the $250 effective annual fee that Im paying on the Sapphire Reserve, its still nearly 6%, and even that doesnt factor in the additional perks on the Sapphire Reserve card, such as Priority Pass membership and primary car rental coverage. It also excludes any bonuses earned from the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal, a simple yet effective strategy for boosting your earnings even higher.

However, I dont put every dollar I spend on one of these four cards. There are a couple of others that offer an even better return on purchases with certain merchants or categories:

  • Ill use an eligible Amex card when an Amex Offer gives me bonus points or additional savings.
  • If a merchant accepts Amex for a non-bonus category purchase, Ill usually swipe my Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express with no annual fee which earns 2x points on all purchases up to $50,000 each calendar year then 1x. This gives me a return of 4% on these purchases based on TPG valuations. Terms apply.
  • Finally, if Ive recently opened another credit card and am working toward earning a bonus, Ill use that card to ensure I hit the minimum spending requirement.

Use A Family Member Or Trusted Friend’s Good Credit

If you have a family member or trusted friend who has a good credit score, you might consider one of two things:

Have them co-sign a loan

Some lenders will allow someone with a strong credit score to co-sign your loan, which effectively means they’ve used their score to earn the loan’s approval. But that also means the co-signer is liable to pay the loan if you can’t, and their credit score could be affected by any late payments you make.

Get added as an authorized user

Ask a family member with a good credit score rangeor anyone who trusts you, for that matterto add you as an authorized user of one of their credit cards. When the individual adds you as an authorized user, that account will be added to your credit report, and all on-time payments by the primary will be reflected on your credit report. Additionally, all on-time payments by the primary cardholder will add to your good payment history from then on.

You will get a credit card to use, with your name on it, but the statement still goes to the primary cardholder. That means you will need to come to some agreement with your trusted friend or family member on how you will pay them for your card use.

Will Business Credit Cards Add To My Chase 5/24 Count

In most cases, small-business credit cards will not add to your Chase 5/24 count because they dont appear on your personal credit report. This actually includes Chase business credit cards, as well. So if youre at 4/24 and you open the Ink Cash card, youll still be under 5/24 even though you just opened a Chase card.

However, if you open a business card with Discover or Capital One, that account will be reported to your personal credit report and will add to your Chase 5/24 total.

How Can I Help Build My Credit With A Secured Credit Card

You can help build your credit with a secured credit card by developing these habits:

  • Make payments on time: On-time payments are one of the main things that will help you build a good credit score.
  • Watch your credit limit: Credit score bureaus also closely watch how close you are to using up your credit limit. Try to keep the balance on your cards at less than 30 percent of your total credit limit.

Secured credit cards are specifically designed to help students and other people with no credit history start building a good credit score. They come with bigger restrictions than regular credit cards, but with responsible use they can help you build up your credit.

How To Increase Your Credit Limit

Finally, I Got My Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card!

A credit limit, also known as a credit access line or credit line, is the maximum amount of dollars you can spend on your credit card before having to pay off some of the balance. Depending on the credit card and how financially stable you are, credit limits can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars.

Being smart about how you use your credit card and paying your bill on time and in full each month can help increase your credit limit and may improve your credit score. However, on the other hand, a higher credit limit can lead to overspending.

It’s important to keep in mind the following considerations when it comes to how your credit limit affects your credit score, how to ask for an increase and questions to ask yourself before doing so.

How To Get Preapproved For A Chase Credit Card

Getting preapproved for one of the best Chase credit cards is a bit more complicated than it used to be, since there is no longer a designated page on the issuers site to check for offers targeted to you. But it is not impossible if you know where to look.

Rest assured, if you do get prequalified for a Chase card, the issuer only performed a soft inquiry on your credit report. Unlike a hard inquiry, which can impact your credit score and requires your full Social Security number, a soft inquiry only requires very basic personal information.

Keep in mind that a prequalified Chase offer is not a guarantee of approval. This step only ensures youre likely eligible for a Chase credit card based on your income, your credit and other factors.

How Do I Order A Custom Chase Debit Card

Simply call the phone number on the back of your debit card or call 1-800-935-9935. You can also go here to order your card online if you are a Chase customer.

The card should arrive within five to seven business days in an unmarked envelope. If you want to expedite your debit card and receive it within two business days you can do that but youll have to pay $5 for the expedited delivery fee.

Chase Freedom Unlimited Approval

Hi all,

I have a very short credit history in the US. My only card at the moment is Amex Green. I’m interested in getting into Chase UR ecosystem. The thing is – I don’t even have a FICO score in the Us at the moment. Amex told me it will take about 6 months to get a FICO score. So my question is – what is the likelihood of me getting approved by Chase for a CFU if I submit an application now. My credit history so far is 5 months with Amex. Thanks!

Next Steps: What To Do If Chase Denies Your Request

Credit Limit Increases – How to Get Highest Credit Card Lines from Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi…

If Chase denies your request to increase your credit limit, there may be a few reasons for it. First, its possible that you dont qualify based on your credit history, income or account history. Ask for information about the denial and take steps to improve your situation.

Once you get to where you need to be financially, you could ask Chase again. You could also apply for a credit card with another lender or ask for an increase on a card that you have with another credit card issuer.

Research your options before you take the next step and think carefully before requesting a higher limit.

    Important Chase Application Rules

Chase has some strict application rules that may stop you from being approved for a new card, no matter how excellent your credit is.

Chase 5/24 RuleThis rule is the biggest reason why those with excellent scores don’t get approved for a new card. This rule says that if you’ve opened 5 credit card accounts in the past 24 months , you will not be approved for a new Chase card, even if you have a perfect score.

As of November 2018, ALL Chase credit cards are subject to this rule. There are no longer any Chase cards to which this rule does not apply.

Chase 2/30 RuleThis is another unofficial rule that says that you cannot be approved for more than 2 Chase cards within any 30-day period. Usually, this goes for 2 personal cards. Applicants have reported better luck being approved for 2 cards at the same time when the 2 cards are not from the same family .

Chase Sapphire RulesYou cannot own more than one card in the Sapphire family. So, for example, if you already have the Sapphire Preferred and now want the Reserve, you will not be able to apply. In this case, you have to call customer service and either upgrade your current Preferred to Reserve, or close your Preferred account and apply to Reserve.

Welcome Bonus RulesFor most Chase cards, you will not be eligible to receive the welcome bonus offer if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the card in the past 24 months. For Chase Sapphire cards, this restriction goes up to 48 months.
