Who Is This Card Best For

This card should really be a last resort for someone who has truly poor credit and can’t get a credit card anywhere else. It’s also an option if you have bad credit but don’t have the cash to come up with the deposit for a secured credit card.
On the other hand, there are several secured credit cards that don’t require a big up-front security deposit. In addition, you get your deposit back when you close your account, which is not the case with the “program fee” and other fees you’ll pay when opening the First Premier card.
However, if a secured card isn’t an option and you want a credit card for rebuilding your credit, you could use the First Premier card as a stepping stone to a more affordable card. If you go this route, however, it’s important to avoid carrying a balance and possibly racking up a lot of interest.

Should You Get A First Premier Credit Card
We dont recommend a First Premier Mastercard Bank Credit Card to you even if youve got poor credit. There are four reasons for that. First is that the card is very expensive. The processing fees could be from $25 to $95. The annual fee charge could be $75 to $125 for the initial year and then $45-$49 each year. Most of the other credit cards neither charge a processing fee nor an annual fee. This means that First Premier Mastercard Bank Credit Card is expensive compared to other credit cards.
The second reason is that this card offers very little payoff. The credit limit could be from $300 to $1000, depending on your creditworthiness. But, you wont have the entire amount at your disposal. Given the high fees of the First Premier Mastercard Bank Credit Card, you may end with very little spending power.
The third reason is that the 36% APR of First Premier Credit Card is very high. If you carry a balance on your card, youll end up paying handsomely in interest. Moreover, your borrower power will keep decreasing as you continue carrying a balance on the credit card because of the monthly payments, annual fee, and high-interest rate.
First Premier Bank Credit Card Overview
The First Premier Bank Credit Card is designed for consumers with low credit scores who may not be approved for most other unsecured credit cards. You shouldnt plan to use this card long term. Instead, this is a card to use for a short time to build your credit before moving on to a more traditional credit card that offers rewards, lower fees, a higher credit limit and lower interest rates. If you have limited credit or are working to repair your credit, you may not have many appealing options when it comes to credit cards. Most rewards credit cards will want to see a higher credit score and stronger credit history before extending credit. So, if you have bad or poor credit, you may need to temporarily rely on a secured credit card or an unsecured credit card with high fees while you work to improve your credit score.

How To Use This Card
The First Premier Bank Credit Card is unsecured, so youll be assigned a credit limit by the issuer if youre approved. This credit limit will be $300, $400, $500, $600, $700 or $1,000, depending on your creditworthiness. However, your annual fee will be deducted from this credit limit, so your initial available credit will be your credit limit minus your annual fee.

Best Cards To Pair The First Premier Credit Card With
If youre trying to improve your credit, its a good idea to have more than one well-managed credit card as it can help to build your credit faster.
You may want to pair your First Premier card with a secured credit card, like the OpenSky Secured card mentioned above. The APR and annual fee are competitive and the deposit is refundable so it may help you keep costs down. Browse the rates and terms of the best secured cards on the market to see if one may be the right fit for you.
Once you begin to build your credit, you will qualify for more cards with better rates, terms and perks. Look for cards that offer rewards so you can earn money as you use the card versus paying to have it. For example, the Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card approves users with less-than-perfect credit and offers unlimited 1.5 percent back on all purchases at an annual fee of $39.
Compare Cards For Building Credit
If the First PREMIER® Bank Credit Card seems expensive for your financial situation, compare other credit-building cards.
A secured credit card could be a cheaper option.
Most secured credit cards require you to deposit a certain amount, often starting from $300, which acts as your credit line.
If you can cover the initial cost, you could save more money in the long run and build your credit at the same time.
