Your native language could not be used in a foreign school. You will get mastered because most of the time you will use the language. You can only use your native language when you talk to teachers or people you come from the same country as.

Identify The Research Project

When a US host organization and a prospective exchange visitor identify a research collaboration of mutual interest, the host organization should prepare a Host Organization Letter of Support using the IREX template. The letter should be specific in detailing the objectives and scope of the research, funding arrangements, confirmation that the prospective exchange visitor has sufficient English-language skills for the project, and opportunities that the host organization will provide to ensure the exchange visitor experiences American culture .

IREX is available to assist host organizations, exchange visitors, and/or a representing attorney during this planning stage. For example, IREX can advise on the appropriate visa category for the proposed activity, realistic timelines, and how to incorporate the American culture piece into the research exchange. IREX can also review and provide feedback on drafts of the Host Organization Letter of Support.

IREX is unable to provide matching services for prospective exchange visitors who are not connected with a host organization.

    What Happens When Your J

Your J-1 visa expires at the end of your exchange program. However, you dont have to return to your home country immediately due to the 30-day grace period.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has established this period for exchange program participants to settle their affairs and prepare to return to their home country. Participants may also use this grace period to travel within the United States.

This Grace Period is also applied to the beginning of your program, allowing you to enter the United States up to 30 days before the start of your program.

    • You received graduate medical education or training in the U.S.
    • Your program involves specialized knowledge or skills that your home country deems necessary
