Sometimes Tech Is Stranger Than Fiction
I had to restrain myself from posting photos of Legere in his 2012 very-expensive-suit Global Crossing executive days. I think Legere is best understood as a ruthless telecom executive who has been remarkably effective and remarkably struck on a great PR and marketing strategy for T-Mobile, and for whatever reason I think old photos of him before his T-Mobile transformation are instructive. But then I imagine people posting 7-year-old photos of me to make a point and I realize its a bit of a cheap shot.
Nilay Patel tweeted some good analysis, though:
1. SoftBank invests in Sprint, installs Marcelo Claure as CEO2. Marcelos Sprint rescue plan is selling to T-Mobile and John Legere3. SoftBank invests in WeWork, installs Marcelo as exec chairman4. Marcelos rescue plan is… John Legere

Apple Card* Vs Chase Freedom Flex
The Chase Freedom Flex card has a generous rewards structure with no loyalty to Apple required. For an annual fee of $0, the card earns 5% cash back on eligible purchases in rotating categories, 5% on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®, 3% on dining and drugstores, and 1% on all other purchases.
Chase has been known to include retailers like Amazon, Target and Walmart as quarterly bonus categories and if youve been eyeing a new Apple device, youd fare better with the Flex. Plus, the Freedom Flex comes with a terrific welcome bonus: $200 bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening and 5% cash back on grocery store purchases on up to $12,000 spent in the first year. For many consumers, the Freedom Flex is likely a more rewarding option overall than the Apple card.
Apple Credit Card For Canadians

Tracking Spends And Budgeting
What you might have seen only on your business credit cards with the Management Information Systems, the Apple credit card helps you keep a track on your spends and help you budget every month.
More so, all your transactions are recorded on the Apple Pay app with colour codes for various categories of expenses. For example, Orange for Food and Drinks, Pink for Entertainment, etc.
The app also provides you with a weekly and monthly expenditure summary with the same colour codes to help you budget better.
Hands On With The Physical Apple Card
It took nearly two weeks for my card to arrive in the mail, and the anticipation of receiving and inspecting it was similar to waiting for other Apple products. The presentation of the box and the meticulously machined, stamped slice of titanium is unlike any other credit card I have received. It has a weighty feel and makes a satisfying steely sound when placed on a table just the kind of sound power lunch executives love to hear.
As with other Apple hardware, the card screams to be encased in a protective shell to preserve its pristine, brushed metal perfection. Indeed, Apple has posted warnings on its website for OCD types like me, reminding us to keep the card from rubbing against denim and leather, or even coming in contact with other credit cards for fear of creating scratches or blemishes. Consequently, Apple Card users who prefer to keep their cards in a factory-stamped, fresh state might want to keep it wrapped in the sleeve it arrived in or perhaps tucked away in a locked drawer somewhere.
Of course, iPhone case vendors like Dbrand have already recognized this as a market opportunity and offer a collection of Apple Card skins and wraps. I opted for a less expensive solution and used a plastic trading card sleeve to protect my card. That way, I could still carry it in my wallet to show it off to my friends and coworkers, while protecting it from coming into contact with the real world.
How To Sign Up For The Apple Card
To get started, you’ll need an iPhone running the lastest version of iOS. You’ll need to be 18 years or older and a U.S. resident to sign up. Apple requires you to have two-factor authentication turned on, and if you’ve put a freeze on your credit report, you’ll need to lift that so that Goldman Sachs can run a credit check on you once you apply. It would also be a good idea to have a drivers license or state ID card within reach in case you’re asked for additional info during the sign-up process.
Once all that’s squared away, here’s what you need to do.
1. On your iPhone, sign into iCloud using your Apple ID .
2. Launch the Wallet app on your phone, and hit the big Plus icon that’s at the top of the screen. When Apple Card launches, you’ll have the option of selecting Apple Card to begin the sign-up process.
3. You’ll be prompted to fill in your first and last name, date of birth, home address, the last four digits of your social security number, your country of citizenship and an estimated annual income. Goldman Sachs may prompt you for more info when you apply, such as your full social security number or a scan of a drivers license or state ID card.
4. Agree to the terms and conditions of Apple Card, and the application process is complete.
Once you’ve accepted Apple’s terms, you’re ready to start using your Apple Card just like you would any card stored in Apple Pay.
How Do You Apply For The Apple Card
If you have an iPhone, applying for the Apple Card is easy. Simply open the Wallet app, tap the plus sign and select Apply for Apple Card. Confirm or update your personal information with Apple, then review and accept the terms and conditions.
If your application is accepted, the card is instantly added to your Apple Wallet meaning you can begin making purchases right away. You can then request a titanium Apple card that will arrive later in the mail.
If your application is denied, Apple may invite you to participate in its new Path to Apple Card program. This unique program gives denied applicants detailed information regarding the reasons their application was denied, as well as tasks they can complete to help them improve their credit. If you complete the Path to Apple Card program successfully, youll have the option to reapply for the Apple Card.

Your credit report may contain information that makes you seem like too much of a lending risk. This can include currently or recently past-due debt obligations such as mortgages, auto loans, personal loans and utility bills, as well as bankruptcies, recent repossessions of property and more.
Tip: Apple also calls out excessive new credit accounts, a high number of recent applications for credit and multiple maxed-out credit cards as potential red flags.
