You can add money to your Amex Send account by logging into the American Express app and tapping the Account button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Then, tap on the Amex Send & Split button at the center of the screen.
Tap the Manage Balance button at the center of the screen, then tap the Add Money button. You can select the card youd like to add funds from at the top of the screen and then choose an amount to add at the center of the screen. Tap the Add button when youre ready to process.

How To Improve The Chances Of Your Balance Transfer Being Approved
Here are some tips to help your chances of being approved for a balance transfer:
Know your credit score. Your is the single most important factor considered for a balance transfer by card issuers.
- Work to improve your score. Work to improve your credit score before requesting a balance transfer if possible. Some ways to boost your score include making on-time bill payments, paying down debt balances, and not applying for new credit cards until after youre approved for a balance transfer.
- Look up your credit limit. A card issuer will typically deny balance transfer requests if you request a transfer amount higher than your credit limit. Consider your credit limit when requesting a balance transfer.
- Pay attention to balance transfer offers. Most balance transfer offers require you to request a transfer within a specific time period to qualify. Make sure you request a transfer within the allotted time to ensure eligibility.
Do You Have Good Credit
If the answer is no, then your American Express options are limited. AmEx cards offer high rewards and generally require at least good credit. If you currently have poor or average credit, then you may want to consider looking at a different issuer that offers options for a more diverse range of credit scores.

How To Transfer Funds From A Credit Card To A Bank Account
If your credit card provider allows it, you can also transfer money with a credit card convenience check.
Take out cash or a money order
If you bring a debit card to an ATM, you can withdraw cash. Do the same thing with a credit card when you use a cash advance.
Alternatively, take out a money order. Find one at your supermarket, a local money-transfer agent, a US Postal Service office or your bank. Money orders can be relatively inexpensive.
Once youve obtained cash or a money order, deposit it into your bank account. Many banks allow deposits through ATMs. You may also be able to make your deposit at a branch.
Make a wire transfer or money transfer
Make a wire transfer through your bank. Before you do, check if the bank allows credit card payments.
Also, consider money-transfer services like Western Union and MoneyGram, which allow you to transfer funds with a credit card.
Wire transfers and money transfers involving credit cards generally come with relatively high fees.
Use a credit card convenience check
Your card provider may occasionally send you .
How This Compares With Other Options
When you lack the immediate cash for something in the moment, credit cards aren’t always a good payment choice, thanks to transaction or convenience fees. And tapping into your available credit line in other ways such as with cash advances can be extremely costly, thanks to fees and interest.
But in recent years, new options from both traditional issuers and startups are changing how some cardholders can access and use their available credit. AmEx’s Send & Split feature is an example. It lets you lean on your credit card, avoiding awkward conversations when dividing up a bill and allowing you to pay off the charge at a more convenient time.
Just be aware of the transaction limits and the fact that you’re still responsible for paying off the charge on time and, ideally, in full if you want to avoid incurring interest.

Amex Split Makes It Easier To Get Paid Back
Thankfully, Amex Split is a bit more exciting.
As discussed, Amex Split lets you get paid back directly to your American Express card using Venmo or PayPal. Just link your Amex account to one of these services and you can select the Split It feature the next time you have a shared expense.
For your friends, the process is no different than responding to any other payment request. They will get a standard Venmo or PayPal request, which they can pay using their linked bank account, credit card or debit card. The only difference is that the payment will go right to your Amex account instead of your Venmo or PayPal balance.
Beyond ease-of-use, another benefit of using Send & Split is that the person who made the charge still gets to keep all the points earned.
So, if you earn 400 points after charging a $100 meal for two to your American Express® Gold Card, youll keep the full 400 points after youre paid back since the card earns 4x on dining at restaurants.
